Ancient Himalayan Ritual
Our films investigate the inner state and experience of ritual cham dancers as they prepare and perform extensive chanting, visualization and highly choreographed gestures attuning to enlightened beings.
We live in remote Himalayan villages for months, returning to the same places over decades. We interview Buddhist leaders, scholars, dance masters, dancers, and community members about the meanings and mechanics of the dances,
but also attune to the rhythms of daily life and what is unsaid.
